Advocacy Alliance is a small local charity providing free, independent and confidential advocacy support to vulnerable adults in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. Advocacy Alliance’s values are Equality, Choice and Respect. The organisation was established in 1991 and has been providing advocacy support to individuals for over 25 years. In 2016 we were the first charity in the locality to be awarded the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark, recognising that we deliver a quality advocacy service.

Advocacy is: taking action to help people say what they want, secures their rights, represent their interests and obtain the services they need.

We currently deliver Care Act advocacy and non-statutory advocacy, as part of a collaborative known as Total Advocacy – delivering statutory and non-statutory advocacy throughout North Yorkshire.

We also have lottery funding which enables us to deliver Extra-Time Advocacy, working with people who are rurally or socially isolated with a mental health need and/or a learning disability.

Advocacy Alliance has also developed and is delivering free safeguarding training for vulnerable adults throughout North Yorkshire. This work is being funded by the Police and Crime Commissioners Fund and runs until 31st March 2019. The training can be accessed by emailing: [email protected]

The next few months are an exciting time for Advocacy Alliance as we are planning a FOOTGOLF COMPETITION in September and we are holding a SILENT ART AUCTION at Woodend on 6th December. We are looking for donations of art for the Silent Art Auction, so any budding or established artists out there we need your help!
