Successful launch of Thornton Le Dale Community Hub The villagers of Thornton Le Dale turned out in their masses on the warm and sunny evening of Thursday 21st June for the launch of a new initiative - the Thornton Le Dale Hub. Totally Socially Locality Worker for Ryedale, Jo Laking, has been supporting the development of the hub since March. The aim of the hub is to bring villagers together, who are willing to be involved in initiating, planning and delivering a range of activities that will enhance and maintain the environment. Over 90 people crammed into the village hall to listen to Hub founder member, local resident Roger Sharples, present the findings of a questionnaire which had been sent to over 280 homes in the village. The questionnaire aimed to discover the views and opinions of residents about various issues affecting the village including the maintenance of communal village land bespoke projects and the development of new activities and groups. Enthusiastic and lively discussion followed the presentation, with more than half of the attendees volunteering to be actively involved in several new projects which include Litter Pick, Gutter and Verge Cleaning, Pond Project and Village in Bloom. Dates on which these groups will be meeting can be found here.
