Sunday 15th April saw Whitby Beach Sweep join with Surfers against Sewage in their Big Beach Clean. Around 50 members of the public met at the Crazy Golf. They were greeted by Geri Sharrock who gave a 5 minute talk around the subject of importance of recycling. The group then spent an hour and a half combing the beach, the cliff walls and areas around the beach. Afterwards the group met at Full of Beans coffee hut for a brew to recharge their batteries. Many bags of rubbish were collected, much of it recycled.

Sunday also saw the launch of the Whitby Beach Sweep raffle. They are currently fundraising to buy their first 2 minute beach clean board. The board consists of litter pickers and bags and will be placed next to a popular beach in Whitby so that local people and people visiting are able to pick litter up when they visit. They have busted their target of £500 after a successful raffle and Go Fund me campaign. Well done to Whitby Beach Sweep who are Elaine, Geri and Jo! Fantastic!
